My CREATE Summer Program Careers Mind Map

Purpose and impact were a big focus of the CREATE Summer Fellowship, a program I had the opportunity to participate in as the Regeneration fellow this year. Purpose is something you are driven to achieve; it comes from your identity, strengths, and passions. It is an important element to personal fulfillment: many at the end of their lives view their success as connected to their purpose instead of material wealth or power. While purpose is highly linked to success, leading to exceptional performance, it is also a pathway to greater well-being and can even make people less prone to disease.

Though finding your purpose does not only mean you have to decide on which job to do in your future, it is beneficial to visualize what you want to do to achieve that purpose. A way to do that is by looking at jobs or job fields. As such, I created a mind map on the jobs and topics in the climate movement, a field that I am interested in. It is based on the CreatorsCircle fellowship focus areas: AI & tech, storytelling, healing, regeneration, and governance, and has been edited to reduce too many starting fields.

Through working on this project I have learned about the connections between different fields and also how wide of a network is needed to combat climate change, as well as environmental degradation. By being able to discuss with my peers and mentors in the program, I have also gained a better understanding of the environmental field that I want to be in and can better picture myself in the field with specific goals and projects on what impact I would like to have.

Just as this program project has helped me, I hope that this mind map helps those interested in making an impact on the climate movement as well—be it through learning about the vast variety of jobs or helping them indeintify the jobs they are interested in. However, please note that this mind map does not cover every field and job in the climate movement as there are too many. It also does not explain the connections as it would end up too cluttered, so if you have any questions regarding the mind map please feel free to contact me at clarabelle.wangruiting@gmail.com.
