The following is an alphabetical list of terms used in the Creatorscircle.org Opportunities Database. Read these definitions to help navigate your way through the database and discover a range of opportunities that will engage, educate, and empower you to create a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable future for all.

 
 

Application Deadline

 
 

This database column designates the month and year that an application is due. An “N/A” refers to programs where a deadlines is not available, or not applicable. Please refer to program websites for the most up to date application deadline information.

 
 
 

Awards Program

 
 

This “opportunity type” refers to youth-focused programs in which students participate in an award, challenge, competition, or prize. 

 
 
 

College Program

 
 

High school students who are beginning their college search process or in the midst of their college application process will find impact-focused college programs in our database. Colleges and universities in the continental United States that offer majors, minors, certificates, concentrations, or specializations in peace studies, social entrepreneurship, social impact, social justice, and/or sustainability are included in our database.

Focus Area

 
 

This database column includes key words that best describe the issues or topics that are the focal point of each program.

 
 
 

Grade Level

 

This database column refers to the high school grade level for which each program is best suited.

 
 

Impact

 
 

Creatorscircle.org defines impact as the ability to have a strong effect or influence on someone or something. We use the term to encompass all things related to sustainability, equity and social and environmental justice.

 
 
 

Location

 

This database column specifies the State in which each program is based. In some cases, programs are offered to students globally, nationwide or in multiple states.

 

Opportunity

 
 

This database column includes each program’s name with a hyperlink to the program website.

 
 

Opportunity Type

 

Database opportunities are organized into the following seven categories: Awards Program, College Program, Scholarship Program, Service Opportunity, Study Abroad Program, Summer Program, and Youth Program. Please refer to each program definition for further information on each opportunity type.

 
 
 

Scholarship Program

 

Opportunities listed in this category include programs that provide students with financial awards to help pay for the cost of college. Please refer to program websites for specific requirements, award amounts, and application deadlines.

 
 

Service Opportunity

 

This database column includes impact-focused community service and volunteering opportunities that are open to high school students.

 
 
 

Study Abroad Program

 

Programs included within this category provide high school students with an opportunity to gain a global perspective and participate in impact-focused programs in a foreign country.

 
 
 

Summer Program

 

This “opportunity type” refers to youth-focused programs that run during the summer and are focused on creating a positive impact.

 
 
 

Youth Program

 

Opportunities listed within this category include programs that are specifically designed for high school students and foster leadership development and impact creation.
