1. What is your understanding of your "purpose" and how do you think it might evolve over time?
My purpose is to use my voice, leadership, and skills to drive positive change, especially in the areas of climate action, youth empowerment, and civic engagement. Through my work with organizations like the Arizona Youth Climate Coalition and the Healthy Living Ambassador Program, I’ve seen the impact that one person can have by inspiring and mobilizing others. I believe my purpose will evolve as I gain new experiences, collaborate with diverse communities, and learn from challenges. As I grow, I hope to expand my advocacy into new areas and continue finding innovative ways to make a difference.
2. Why do you do the work you do? What impact do you hope to create?
I am driven by a passion for building a more sustainable, equitable, and engaged world. I do this work because I’ve witnessed firsthand how youth can influence policy, inspire their peers, and create lasting change, from drafting climate resolutions to leading service projects that benefit hundreds of people. My goal is to empower others, especially young people, to believe in their ability to lead and to take action on issues that matter to them. I hope to create a legacy of collaboration, community improvement, and hope for future generations.
3. How has your heritage shaped who you are and how you show up in the world?
My heritage has instilled in me a deep respect for resilience, service, and the power of community. The values I’ve inherited, whether from family traditions or my broader community, have shaped my commitment to giving back, embracing diversity, and working toward justice. These roots keep me grounded and remind me to honor those who came before me by making a positive impact today.
4. What have you learned from any professional or personal challenge(s) or failure(s) that you have experienced in your life?
Facing challenges, like organizing large-scale events, advocating for policy change, or balancing leadership roles with academics, has taught me the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and humility. I’ve learned that setbacks are opportunities for growth, and that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. These experiences have made me more resilient and better equipped to lead with empathy and purpose.
5. What do you think today's youth has to look forward to?
Today’s youth have unprecedented opportunities to shape the future. With access to information, technology, and networks, young people can raise their voices, organize for change, and influence decisions at every level. Despite the challenges we face, I believe youth can look forward to a world where their leadership is recognized and their efforts create real progress on issues like climate change, social justice, and community wellbeing.
